I have read and reread it several times. It made the book look rather depressing, shabby and gloomy as an old ghost out of the not that distant past. Covering everything from births at home to making breads from your own home-grown grains, this is a practical reference that is easy to read and very down to earth. And for those of us who reside in less than bucolic settings, country living has become a way of thinking.
I had heard of this book for years, so decided to get it from the library. Uncredited photos: Shutterstock. Bought this as a gift a couple of years ago for my daughter who often borrowed my copy--when I would let go of it. If you don't care about anything other than pretty shiny photos, you may like this book, but if you want real information and instruction, I would pass on it. We occasionally link to goods offered by vendors to help the reader find relevant products. I read that copy so much I felt as if the author were almost related to me or something.
